How cool is that.  Those are pretty rare, especially one in good condition.  Keep us posted.

It will get a more or less stock color repaint by next riding season, as well as a lot of cosmetic spiffing up. I was dealing on a black '76 at a dealership in Ohio, but I didn't consider it's claimed low, original, mileage of 2,700 miles as a positive thing...not for a 46 year old bike that hadn't been rebuilt.

The blue '76 in Kansas City has had a complete engine rebuild from the crank up, new seals and main bearings, new pistons, etc. and is claimed to be a great running example of this old Suzuki. It also doesn't hurt one bit that I can buy it for $1,300 less than the black one at the Ohio dealership.

As I said, it will need a repaint of the tank and two sidecovers, but that's an easy thing to have done...

Pretty sure I looked at that black '76 about 6 weeks ago. Just outside of Dayton. Shop had several vary nice old Suzuki's. Price's were pretty steep I thought.
If you do the repaint, as nice as that bike looks it deserves the closest color match to original as possible.

I hope it makes you happy.
The last few times I rode a nostalgic bike, they just felt old and primitive.

I hope it makes you happy.

Love my old bikes! But maybe its because I'm getting old?!?!?  My newest one I ride is 18 years old next season & the PC will turn 31 next season & has yet to hit 30.000 miles

Yes, I had a blue '74 that I had purchased from my brother in St. Paul. I had it about a year, then became frustrated with it and ended up selling it to a gentleman in Australia, who almost immediately overhauled the engine due to bad crank seals. I had contacted him only a month or so ago, and he still has it.

This one will be my sixth GT750 since my first one in 1974.

I have arranged to pick it up near Kansas City next weekend.

Dragging it back home...

Rode it around for the first two day, putting 100 miles on it the first, then an additional 80 the second...

Unfortunately, all is not well. The bike is down on power, and on the second da's ride, it began spewing thick, black goo from what appears to be the left exhaust header clamp area. I think it may be a simple fix, because it may be likely that the guy I bought it from, may have omitted the three, thin, metal exhaust gaskets that fit between the header pipe and exhaust port.

Worst case, however, is a bad head base gasket, which is a much larger deal...

Regardless, the bike is down for the winter, and these issues will be addressed. Meanwhile, I've been doing a bit of cosmetic tinkering, and some parts are responding well to the effort...

Before...

After...

The poor condition of the chrome exhaust system, and the
apparent impossibility of finding a plater willing to mess with rechroming a two-stroke exhaust, has me considering just spending the $1400 to buy a complete, new, reproduction exhaust system from Delkevic, and getting it over with...

Love the color!

Before next riding season, it will be repainted in the same stock blue, with new, stock, reproduction stripe graphics beaneath the clear coat.

I'm also trying to buy a set of these restored carbs from the UK for it...

Definitely a great looking motorcycle. Congratulations on bringing it home, and I hope the maintenance and parts bring it to excellent running condition.

I'm guessing most riders today have never even seen one of those. You'll be a big hit at your local bike night next summer. Very cool bike.

JB, there's an outfit in my home town of Quincy, IL that has done work like what you need. Precision Plating of Quincy, IL if you're interested. They're on FB too.

I'm definitely looking forward to stinking up the Sturgis rally next August with it. 200,000 noisy, black Street Glides...one smoky old Suzuki GT750.

Wow! I don't know how I missed this thread. That is a super rare bike and I hope you get it sorted. Please post your progress if you can.
