I was at the local Triumph Dealers getting an oil filter for my wife's 2007 Speedmaster and gave her the receipt for for $518.50 just spent.

Her - $518.50 for an oil filter, that's robbery!!!!!
Me - I thought it was a good deal as they threw in a just traded Piaggio X9 500 EVO with the filter.
I started to laugh (nervously).
She was not laughing.
I am no longer laughing either!

I'm sure its only because she feels threatened by my 460cc vs her Yamaha Majesty's 400cc - yes, that's definitely the problem.

I thought parts were expensive here in Greece!!!

Couldn't quite afford the AK550 so bought the X9. Some scratches and evidence of being used in the commuting role by a commuter not an enthusiast. Some TLC required but I don't know how much yet as there is a public holiday here Monday so pickup will be Tuesday afternoon but off to the other side of the country Wednesday first thing. Appx 3 weeks before I can lay spanners on it (or petrol  and a match). I also have a Majesty in the shed but looking forward to riding the X9 on the open road as the longer wheelbase may make it more stable. Until then it will be parked in the
European/Italian/liquid cooled/>250cc_needs$spent.another waste of time area of the shed.

I don't know how she can be mad about a 500cc scooter for $500.

Even better

You can't do that, it would only work if he had an American income. To do a proper conversion one needs to compute using the percentage of the respective average annual incomes, cost of living, etc.

You sir got a steal of a deal!
Apparently it was traded on a new Triumph and the price was to recoup the 'just been serviced' cost as well as the new Michelin City Grips that were fitted- so all in all not a bad deal at all. Right place right time, I was interested in the V-Strom next to it.

Given that the owner had spent money on it I'm not too worried (bought without starting it) and haven't heard it run yet. 70 000Km or appx 42 000 American Kilometers! I'm not expecting much but am prepared to throw some $$ at it whether it be mechanical, cosmetic or farkels. Maybe one of those natty looking single wheel trailers for the longer trips? I'll pull the clutch, change rollers, slides, belt, trans oil, grease the head bearings and do some detailing. The downside is having to give up my Majesty 400 which will be difficult for a word we all know but rarely realise (no 'Z' int the Queens English) the gravity of the meaning - and that word is Symmetry!

As an Aircraft Engineering Artificer (thanks sevenwheels) my mechanical life has been governed by the simple rule of symmetry ie, if you have something fitted to the left wing you fit the same to the right wing, 2 wheels on left main landing gear then 2 wheels on the right MLG etc etc. I have 2 VTR1000's,  2 VF1000's, 2 VF750's, 2 naked VT250's, 2 VT250F's, 2 VTR250 Trellis frames, 2 865 Triumphs 2 K series BMW's. Yes the list goes on until we get to Yamaha Majesty's and WE do have 2 of those, a his and a hers.

I am feeling quite queezy thinking about going on a ride with my wife, pulling up at a servo and someone saying to us "nice Yamaha AND Piaggio"! The only way to live with that is by being able to say - "thanks, I left my Majesty in the garage today".

Lets see what tomorrow brings.
