Double the tire (tyre) costs, too!

If for some reason you're not coming to Arkansas with fresh rubber, you might want to bring a new set of tires with you and call one of the bike shops in Harrison and make an appointment for an emergency tire change, just in case.
Most bike shops won't have scooter tires in stock.

There is a Yammer dealer right next to the Days Inn and a Honda dealer down the street.

It might be an idea to let them both know that we're/you're coming if, for no other reason, than to say "Hi".

They are probably use to cyclists being around but if you need tires after a long ride might be a good idea to set up in advance.

I keep missing this rally because my family keeps booking the beach that week every year. My apologies for repeatedly missing out on the fun. Take lots of pics and I hope all have a good time.

So join us at the "Scoot the Ozarks" rally the following week!  Some crossover between the two groups, especially since both rallies will be in the same vicinity this year.

The rotten part of booking a vacation at the beach 1st week in September is it's hurricane season. More than once I rolled out of there with a shit storm chasing. lol One of these days I'll make it!

While I hate to be the one to throw cold water onto what would have been a wonderful 3 week trip for me, I have to ask in light of the Covid crisis what plans might change? Here in Canada they're talking (best case) full social distancing etc until at least July, and likely longer. And the Canada/USA border is closed to all but necessary travel.
Might it not be prudent to pull the plug on this year, and hold the plans in abeyance till 2021?

The nice thing about our Rally this Year you can cancel 24-48 hrs before you get there.  Also, we don’t have a registration fee.  I say let’s see what happens.  I sure will be ready to hang out with fiends.  That’s my thoughts.

FWIW, I would wait until late July or early August to make any "go ahead -- defer/cancel" decision.  Nothing to be lost by waiting and certainly by mid-summer, the public health & safety situation will be much clearer regarding this viral scourge.  Maybe it's me but I'd rather hang onto the optimistic expectation of getting together in September rather than have that bubble burst amongst all of the other bubbles that are going flat right now.

I think this virus will have run its course by then. Treatment options will be available.   Sometime in August would be a good time consider go or pass on the rally.  After having to work during the lock down (not complaining about the paycheck), I'm retiring or at least taking a year off really need more fun and less work.   The wife said she wants to attend so might have a 3 wheeler by then.  I cannot see her doing 240 miles on my silverwing.

It'll be a lot more than 240 miles.
If you do all the rides that week, you'll add around another 1000 miles.
Like I said before, make sure you have GOOD rubber before you come to the rally.

I understood that's per day.  Commuting daily on the scooter I'm ready to open her up.  Being a southern man love roughing it a little, comfort is not required but adventure is.  Wife grew up in New York City, lovely girl but very different ideas of what fun is.  lol.

The only thing I'm seeing bad would be the social distancing-which isn't an insurmountable obstacle- to our lunch/dinner groups. Riding outdoors is a good thing. Everyone gets their own rooms, no problem. Poolside or fireside afterward socializing, hey it's still outside, just don't pass a bottle around. Be smart, and there are no issues! Don't forget, there's even a  much better than 98 % recovery rate.
I'm going. I look forward to this ride all year and seeing and meeting friends. I refuse to live my life in fear. No one is guaranteed a long healthy life. I'm going to enjoy what time I have left, doing what I like to do. Just be smart about it!

Iím sorry to report under the advice of Peteís Oncologist we will not be attending the rally.   She feels it will be detrimental to Peteís well being due to his compromised immunity.   She further stated Arkansas was one of the most lax states with regard to the Stay At Home order and feels they are headed to a greater spike after the summer.   Actually I looked up their numbers and they are climbing rapidly at the present time.

Pete and I have pretty much been following our own stay at home since November 2019 when he started the nuclear infusions.   At one point before C-19 Pete had not left the house for over 45 days.  In February, Pete looked like death, I thought for sure he was a goner so many times. After the C-19 Stay at Home started we have been even more careful.

Part of us wants to ignore her advice but deep down we knew this was probably what would happen.   We've canceled our summer trips to Ohio and Colorado as well.

We are super sad but we have to do whatís best for our family. With any luck we will see ya'll next year in South Dakota.

We hope so.  Peteís Dr this morning looked him dead in the eye and told him if you get C-19 you simply will not survive.   Ugh....
