Let's Ride!!!!!!

« on: September 26, 2019, 06:50:32 PM »

Info to be added soon.

This will without a doubt feature some of the best riding roads in the US.

This year we will plan to offer alternate routes on a few days.  Long/faster lead by Mark.  Moderate/semi long by me.  Plus one very long day to Mt Magazine lead by me.  As always I encourage you to learn the area in the event you want to go off on your one.

There will be a Pig Trail/Arkansas Dragon Loop, A Ferry Ride Missouri Loop, Push Mt Loop and a Mt Magazine Loop.

There will be  smaller ride on Tuesday as Pete and I will arrive on Monday evening.

Of course I'm in. I don't know what I'll be riding, or where I'll be coming from, but I'll be there!

Interesting that this is scheduled in essentially the same place as the "Scoot the Ozarks" rally taking place the week afterwards.  Is there some sort of competitive rivalry between the two group of which I am unaware?

Gotta go where the good roads are.
STO is in Eureka Springs, we're riding out of Harrison so we're closer to all the good roads.
We'll be somewhere else the next year.
We always do our ride in September.

Not at all.  Iíve been to 2 STOís in the past.  (And actually their competitor at the time, the Renegade Rally) They are a super bunch of people. Iím still sad Tressa has passed away, such a great person.

As Mark said this is the year we decided to go to that area.  Each year we pick a new spot, next year itís Arkansas.

We picked Harrison as it gets us to many great roads a tad quicker than Eureka Springs.

Over the past 12-13 years of riding Iíve been to Arkansas about 20 times to ride, the roads are phenomenal.

Also a few people have mentioned doing both our rally and the STO.  Pete and I might be as well but not committing yet.

Double the fun if you can manage getting out to both rallies, which we have previously when the stars lined up for us.

Double the tire (tyre) costs, too!

If for some reason you're not coming to Arkansas with fresh rubber, you might want to bring a new set of tires with you and call one of the bike shops in Harrison and make an appointment for an emergency tire change, just in case.
Most bike shops won't have scooter tires in stock.

Thereís quite a few bike shops in Harrison which is a good thing.  Maybe if you have enough rubber to get to Harrison order some up and have them put on a new set when here.

I you a lot laugh every time we say MO/Ark eats tired but itís 100% fact.

For sure going to pencil in the dates and hope to be there. Just have to wait until January and our company's vacation bid (by seniority) to see that I get the weeks I need. It would add 4 more US States to the list of States I've ridden in.
Now... what route to I ride down and back on? Time to start perusing the maps!

In Huzzah Valley WE DID bring 4 extra tires with us when Karin blew her rear (oh my!) and my rear plain wore out keeping up with Mark and Robin.  Problem was finding a shop to take off our tattered old rears and mount the fresh ones up (oh my my!)  Won't make that mistake again though.  We'll make sure we have plenty of fresh rubber and ... I'm ordering special spoons today to help with the mounting and dismounting process if needed.  (oh my oh my!)

Nothing to be sorry about Mark ... lol ... stuff happens.  We had the spare parts ... just not the know-how.  I'll be teaching myself to change tires (I have three to do right now) before next riding season.  Good winter project for me.

BTW - they're calling for our first frost night tonight.  Scheesh!!!  Tis the beginning of the end for riding this season for us ... maybe a few more weeks depending on Mother Nature.

I can't tell you how happy this makes me.  Wonderful roads down there.  May I suggest you try to work in 160East out of Forsyth and T out of Ava. T is a perfect road, lots of curves,  very little traffic,  perfect  pavement. 125 is amazing.  H is satisfactory.  14 east out of Available is great.  I haven't even gotten to the AR border yet.

I love those roads as well, especially T.   I just don't think it's doable on the trip into MO that day due to time.

I can't wait till you guys get on Hwy 123 from Hagarville to Mt. Judea.

Most people think the Arkansas Dragon starts at 7 then north.  They miss a beautiful section south of 7.

Like I said a long winter is descending on Chicago.

Last Sunday Bob and I met with my old boss who retired in February.  We rode about 220 miles. This is his drive way.  Pictures are not in any particular order.

This was my drive home from work today.  Happy Halloween!
