Fridayís Ride we headed out to Lake Placid. Didnít leave the gas station till about 9.  Wanted to leave at 8:30 but it didnít happen.  Bob had to go bake to the motel 3 1/2 miles away. He said go ahead he would catch up.  60 miles and 1 1/2 hours later he caught up to us at our 1st stop.  The roads and the scenery were wonderful.  Except for a couple of bad spots.  Somehow we lost Bruce along the way and he got ahead of us when we made a wrong turn and had to turn around.  The 5 of us had lunch in Tupper Lake.  While we were there Bruce called and was almost in Lake Placid which was about 35 minutes away. He already had lunch. He waited for us.  While in Lake Placid Len inquired about Whiteface Mt Rd.  He wanted to ride up and see the vista.  It was already 3 and we had to ride 200 miles back to Cooperstown.

Long story short Len, Karin, John and Bob went up the road.  Bruce and I headed back to Cooperstown.  I did not want to be driving in the dark any longer then I had to.  Bruce and I got back about 8:20.  Bruce had a deer run out in front of him about 15 miles from the Bayside.  He slammed on his brakes as did I when I his go on. Thank god for ABS.

Bob called me a little after 5 they were back in Lake Placid planning their route back.  They decided to take the same route we took their.  At 8:15 he texted me they stopped for sandwiches and gas probably. Maybe 2 hrs away in the daylight.   They are not back as of yet.  It is 10:41.

The ride , roads, scenery, weather were great. Keeping my fingers crossed they all get back without incident.

Here are some pics I took today.

Best riding partners in the world.  Fantastic roads. Rode to the top of White face mountain
On a clear day they say you can see 51 miles. Not a cloud on the sky today. Don't reslly know how far some of the other mountain tops were.

As you can see by Johns pics.  The gang got back safely just after 11 pm.

I will post Bob’s pics of White face mt. after I get home.  Internet is slow here.  We rode 438 miles and got just east of Cleveland around 8:00.

Bob and I got home safe. Pulled into the garage at 5:45 this evening.  400 miles today yesterday was 438 miles.  All interstate except for the 25 miles from Cooperstown. And the 6 in Chicago.
We had a great time with our small group.  Missed seeing all who couldn’t come this year because you know life gets in the way and we can’t help that.  I will post some pics from the last couple of days.  Just not tonight.  Tired. I have to get up for work tomorrow at 5.

Karin and I arrived home around 6:00 p.m. last night.  On the drive home we kept talking about how very happy we were that we were able to attend the Rally and what a great time we had with the folks who came.  One big plus of having a smaller group is that it allowed us all to get to know each other that much better and John is right ... what a great bunch of riding partners to spend the week with.

It was truly democracy in action with everybody contributing to and fine-tuning the ride routes starting with Maggie's suggested routes.  Special thanks to Bob for stepping up as Ride Leader the first two days ... he did a terrific job for his first time out as Ride Leader.  On the third day, I relieved Bob for our Lake Placid ride until it got dark ... then Bob moved up to lead again lighting up the twisting Adirondack roads with his bike's awesome LED lighting system.  You've got to experience it to truly appreciate it!

On our fourth and final day, Bruce took over as Ride Leader with a scenic ride through the surrounding countryside complete with yet another family diner lunch stop ... a perfect way to end the riding week.  We made it back in plenty of time for another campsite cookout and great conversation for our last evening together.

I'll post my pics once I get them to download to my laptop (I think I have that Windows 10 patch issue that is preventing me from downloading pics and video right now).  Thank you Maggie for all your planning efforts and thanks to Bob, Bruce, Cathy, John, Karin and Tim for a great week and some great memories.  You could not ask for a better Pack to ride and hang out with! ~ Len ~

I can't post any pics because #1 I'm photographically and technologically challenged and #2 I didn't take too many.  I'm still trying to figure out how I managed to get so far ahead of the group when they left me for dead on the side of the road(just kidding) and how my bike managed to defy gravity and fall over-to the opposite side- when parked. After leaving Sunday morning, I wandered up some awesome back roads, passing a cool cemetery with Revolutionary War Veterans grave sites. I took some more backroads all the way home, never exceeding 55mph) and was surprised that it only took me twenty minutes more(and thirty miles shorter) than the rapid ride I took to get there on Wednesday.

Glad all have arrived home safely.

Len thank you for the kind words.  You guys were also great to hang and ride with.  It was fun seeing you and Karin we missed you last year.

Bruce again thank you for riding back with me from Lake Placid and having Bob and I as your quests for a couple of nights.

John, it was humid when we got back to Chicago if that makes you feel any better.  Not as hot as you though.

My pics finally uploaded to my laptop.  I won't share similar pics to the ones you've already seen but here are some unique ones.

Here we are (Bruce was joining us later) doing some route planning (note the map Tim is holding) and getting ready to head out.  At this point Bob didn't know  he would be leadng the day's ride cuz we hadn't voted him into the Ride Leader position yet.  You know we were all behind you Bob!

Below is an explanation of the viaduct that carried boats across and over the top of the river.

I know it looks like a bridge in the background.  However, it was filled with water and transported boats down the middle of the viaduct from one side to the other.  Very cool and we got to ride down the middle of it (no water of course).

Just down the road from the viaduct was "Eagle's Nest".  A lookout, high above the valley cut into the rock like the hillside road was.  It featured a relatively short but twisty and fun stretch of road that one sport biker and her boyfriend (a HD rider) kept going back and forth on at breakneck speed.  This was a fun stretch to ride and we traversed it twice .... going there and back.  Little did we know we had the absolutely amazing Hwy# 10 waiting for us on our way to White Face Mountain in Lake Placid in a couple of days.  IMHO, that ranks right up there with Hwy#16 in VA (Back of the Dragon).

And then there were four.  Tim, Cathy and Bob already headed out for home and the four of us (Bruce, John, Karin and me) were left to enjoy one last diner meal during our countryside ride on Saturday..

I thought I'd include this shot as several people commented on it.  At the PA Rally a few years back, Stu (another Canuk from London ON), had placed a Maxi-Scoots logo design on Karin's GIVI top case.  Recently, I painted the top case to match her new Burgy and was able to save and incorporate the logo making it look like an embossed feature.  Turned out pretty good I'd say.

Scoots loaded, trailer packed and just about ready to head back home.

And what would a Maxi Scoots Rally be without one of us having the sipes scrubbed right off of our tires.  This year we have the most amazing and fun Hwy#10 to thank.  Luckily, no emergency trailer rescue or middle-of-nowhere Taco Salad delivery was required.  In fact, I've had enough Taco Salad for the next little while.

The riding was good, the weather was good, the scenery was good, the company-especially around the campsite- was great. It was a shame it couldn't have been enjoyed longer and by more. An added bonus was that I didn't have to ride 1K miles(or more) to get there!
