If riding to Marshal, the river road from Ashville is a nice road.

Ride report from Maggie Valley: August 18-21-2019 Sunday August 18 - after church ... rode over to Maggie Valley on I-40. It was HOT. 98 at one point on my on board ambient temp gauge. Pulled off at Foothills Parkway just b4 NC to cool off at overlook ... saw a bear on that road. By the time I got my cell phone out to take a pic the little cubby ran off into the woods:-( Monday August 19 - we rode, we rode and we rode some more! Did 275-300 miles that day. GREAT roads. BRP, hwy. 80, 226A, 19W, 209 and others. I always love BRP, but this day 19W was a my favorite road with lots of scenic farmland and mtn. twistys. Saw a little bear cub on BRP that morning:-) Tuesday August 20 - More curves, less miles but still a great ride with LOTS of curvey mountains roads. I can’t remember all the roads ... but they were south of MV, 107, 215, sections of again BRP, ... Cullohwee Mtn. Road ... wow what a twisty, curvey, steep road. Best of the day, IMHO. But again all 180ish were really good. Wednesday August 21 - I had to get back to work, and my rear tire was toast, so I headed out at 5:35 a.m. Leisurely ride back ... hit BRP back to Cherokee, then 441 to Sugarlands visitor ctr., then Little River road and cut off over to Wears Valley were I got on the new section of the Foothills Parkway - sweet little road with great views of Townsend - then onto to Maryville for breakfast at the Sonic, continued on 321 over to Hwy. 70 and on home. Great trip! The guys from ADV riders/Battlescooters were great. These are some serious riders. I was AMAZED at what those small displacement scooters could do in the mountains of western NC. Here’s a few pics ... BUT follow the link to ADV for more pics and ride reports should be forthcoming. WaterKnob overlook: Somewhere south of BRP and off the Cullowhee Mtn. road. My scoot: Early morning Elk at Cherokee: My scoot taking a nap:-( (in a hurry to shoot a pic from an overlook and forgot to set the parking brake. Being on a incline it rolled off the side stand with me only 6-8 feet from it. Man! Flagged down a car to help me pick it up and got back on the road WITH a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Here's the pic I was going for: Damage: winshield, rear brake lever, lens cover for turn signal, scraps, scrathes, scuffs Oh well, I reckon if thats the worse thing that happened after nearly 500 miles of blasting through all those twisty mountain roads and the 884 total trip ... meh, no serious damage. Only cosmetic. The ADV link: https://advrider.com/f/threads/summer-fall-south-east-beat-the-heat-scooter-ride.1395888/*pics start at page 9 Sirkitrider

Ron, sorry to hear about your scooter taking a nap. It always sucks when that happens. I've done the same thing and always wanted to kick myself afterwards. As Cathy said: at least you weren't hurt. You scooter can be fixed. Any way it was great riding and spending some time with you. Hopefully we can do it again some time. As for the ride report. I'm going to post some highlight pictures here but if you want the full ride report click on this link: https://advrider.com/f/threads/full-throttle-touring-150-through-the-rocket-city.647784/page-118#post-38254195Highlight pics: . . . That's day one. I'll put the other days in separate posts

Day 4. Only two of us were left and we only did a short ride. . . . . This was maybe the best few days of scooter riding I have ever done. The roads were fantastic. The weather pretty good. My Like150i was a little under powered but it was a blast to ride and got around 90 MPG. I couldn't ask for better people to ride with. I'll probably do another one of these next August. Again. If you want more details and pics of this ride, click on this link: https://advrider.com/f/threads/full-throttle-touring-150-through-the-rocket-city.647784/page-118#post-38254195

I've been following over on ADV. I sure did miss riding up to Marshal on Wednesday. Those roads look great. I wanna get back up there. Maybe a fall ride?

I will do a fall ride....or two. I'll probably base out of Tellico Plains. No definite plans yet but I'll post up when I make some. I'll be doing some day rides up into Tennessee as well.
