Don't sweat the small stuff...it's all small stuff

« on: August 06, 2019, 06:40:06 AM »

I think I should have clarified the title of my post, when I wrote “Not the Zoo.”  The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is run by the state, and is a place where sick, injured or abandoned animals are brought after being rescued, and are cared for until they have recovered from whatever injury or illness.  Some are there because they were somehow abandoned as young animals.  The bears were cubs that had been either abandoned by their mothers, or the mom was shot, leaving the young cubs alone.  Others are there for various other reasons.  They have two coyotes there, for example, that have been there since soon after birth.  The upside is that the center is open (for a fee) to the public to come in and observe, and there are also seminars and just informational talks provided.  Neat place, and a must see thing for anyone visiting the Anchorage area.
