Our American Legion Post commander  has been dispatched to Tulsa, with the Red Cross because of the flooding. His wife just got back from Nebraska two weeks ago. She said there is not much the Red Cross can do in the rural areas because everyone helps each other out, not like most city people who wait for someone to help them.

In 1993, I sand bagged for a week.   I took vacation, and my brother and I went to West Quincy to help.  Only to have some asshole remove sandbags from the levee so he could strand his wife on the opposite side.

Yeah, the prisons are full of people who claim they're innocent of the crime they were convicted of.  It's pretty hard to agree with this guy, given his past and criminal record.

Your part of the country sure has been hit hard by severe weather this spring.  I hope it abates soon.  So many folks suffering as a result of all this.

Here's a picture from Alton IL from yesterday.
If you look at the silos on the left, under the American flag, you can see the red line of the high water mark from the 1993 flood.
Just a couple feet short.

Not surprised. With all the rain we've had up north here it has to go somewhere. There is so much standing water around here its unbelievable! Rode to a park today that I've been going to for 40 years. The picnic tables that are cemented in the ground on the beach are now in water. Never seen it that high!
