This was the 4th year I have attended a local dual sport event.  The event is called Dual Sporting the Free State because part of the ride takes place in Winston County Alabama.  It is often called the Free State because it didn't go along when the state of Alabama seceded from the Union.

While there were no scooters involved in this ride I think most of you can relate to the fun of camping with a bunch of great folks who I consider my old and new friends.  We have a core of people who are there every year and also some new riders.

My riding buddy Steve drove over from Georgia for this and we headed over to the campground on Friday afternoon.  I go to this event more for the good time at the campground at least as much as I do the riding.

We have all kinds of bikes show up for this.  Here's a Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Hanging out.

What a beautiful evening!

Breakfast the next morning.

This is not a bike you would expect at a dual sport ride!

I think the lesson here is to go straight through the mud instead of trying to go around the edge.

Someone got a picture of me.

More playing in the mud.

Lunch was at Chef Troys in Houston, Alabama.  It looks like a hole in the wall but if you ever find yourself in the area this is the place to eat!

It was a great weekend!

I'm looking forward to getting back out on my scooters but it looks like I'll be busy with other stuff for the next couple of weeks.

Thinking the same as Dan. Great photos, looks like a great time.

The food and riding were very good but a big part of this event was spending time with the people.  I think the regulars here can relate to getting together, riding eating and just hanging out with friends.  I see a lot of similarities between this forum and the Motorcycle Alabama forum.

That looks like a great time, but reminds me of why I dislike riding in mud!
