This route is a smaller mileage day at 260 miles. A little bit more relaxed in certain portions.
I like this route because you get to see a covered bridge (we only have 4 in Missouri) The one on this route has actually been used in a AB Clydesdale commercial many moons ago.
On the other side of I-55 is Hwy C. Once you leave Pocahontas C turns into a fun fun road. This is another road Pete and I will ride to from St. Louis just to ride back and forth on. After you get down into the flat land it’s VERY flat but strangely fun as you head over towards Chester.
This route also takes you into Chester, IL. Home of Popeye. Just over the bridge is a MUST stop. I’ll say no more. There are two gas station right on the Missouri side before going across the Mississippi River. They always have good prices.
Where to eat on this route. Mary Janes in Perryville is amazing :-)
