Greetings Everyone: CoolBreez here.  I have been away from the scooter scene for a couple of years now and I am trying to catch up.

My first two wheel motorbike was a Harley Fat Boy.  Good bike, expensive to maintain, but it started to challenge my age a bit, I am 70.  A couple of years ago I started researching for something simple and fun to ride.  I entered the Scooter world.

My first scoot was a Burgman 650.  I like the Burg a lot, but really never really got use to the trans downshifting for the braking.  I owned it for a couple of years and went to a 2013 Silverwing.
I liked the SW a lot and rode it for about two years. The SW was easy to maneuver, had decent power, but I got busy with work and never had time to ride so I sold it. I have read that Honda is not making the Silverwing anymore. Is that correct ?  Now that I am retired/retired I am looking for a new scoot.

I will send another thread as I am looking for advise and guidance on the new scoots out there and want to learn about the pros and cons of the top three or four scoots.  I look forward to your opinions and experiences with your scoots.   Thanks in advance.  CoolBreez

Greetings and welcome back to scooter world.
The Silver Wing is still made, has been updated, BUT isn't imported to the states. :(
Plenty of left over Swings if you want and plenty of parts available.
I have the 2012. I had, then sold my B650EX. Great scoot. I also currently own a Kymco Xciting 400i.
Wishing for a Kymco AK550.

Waiting to see your list of considerations. Opinions to consider will be forthcoming from the members here for sure.
And then you gotta post photos after you purchase it and let us know the likes/dislikes of course

Following are my considerations for new scoots.  I am looking for thoughts on the pros and cons of each, respectfully. For starters I am looking at 2018 and 2019 scoots that I can do some highway travel and also use it in local city and town.  My preferences in order are reliability, dependability, power, comfort, service, and price.  So far I have only have riding experience with the Burgman, and Silverwing.

I recently test drove the BMW GT 650 in Fredericksburg Va. The dealer only had one in stock. (Mortons).  I only took it out for a few miles.   I read that the BMW GT650 had some issues with stalling in 2013, and 2014.  So right now my short list for scoots is the BMW 650, Bergman 650, and maybe a late model Silverwing.  Any thoughts on the newer Bergman 650's; 2017, 2018, 2019?   Open to suggestions on any new scoots out there.  Thanks for your welcome to the site.

Respectfully, CoolBreez.

Welcome from central upstate NY. I spent a lot of time in Southern Maryland, when I was working. If you're looking for opinions, I'm sure we can provide some! As for mine, I'm thinking along the lines of the new Kymco 400. Reliable as an anvil, big enough to run the interstates without breaking a sweat, comfortable enough for all day riding, great gas mileage, easily maneuverable, plenty of storage, all at a great price.  Unless the AK550 shows up, that-or an old, new Silverwing- just may be my next scooter.

Welcome to you, CoolBreeze, from Nova Scotia.  (Where the breeze is more like a wind and more cold than cool.) As you see my ride is a 2005 Silverwing.  It is the only ride I've known; and have a motorcycle license since only Sept 2013. (The "course" was for scooters but testing on a150cc machine granted a motorcycle driver's permit.)  So my experience is very limited .... but I would be looking for a Silverwing again, if a replacement was needed.

A belated welcome from Odenton, Maryland (near Annapolis).  I’m making the most of the short spate of beautiful weather and changing leaves this week on my Burgman 400.  Hope you find a good deal on a new ride soon.  It’s the right time of year to buy!

Cheers,   Steve
