I'll never forget that day!

Now 19, Mimi is currently in a nursing program. She has already received her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification, and is scheduled to complete her RN (Registered Nurse) certification from the same program in 2019. She also completed the Basic Rider Course.

I remember that bridge!

Back in the final quarter of the last century of the previous millennium, slightly less than 9 years after man first stepped onto the moon, the Honda 750K, over the previous decade, had finally proven a motorbike could be ridden more than it was worked on.

Back when I was a young buck, trying to look cool on my first real motorcycle, a 1979 Yamaha 400. I had a love / hate relationship with that bike. Loved it when it ran, hated it when it didn’t. Turns out I hated more often. I got really good at push starts on that bike.

That's so awesome! Tell her hello and congrats!

That was a very fun ride from the bridges to the town that isn't there.  I have fond memories of that day.

Not a Maxi throwback, but beyond ... the 2008 St Louis Scooter Club River City Rally ... where we first met Maggie & Pete.

Was sorta Maxi Scoot adjacent come to think of it.  Regardless it was a happy circumstance and we ended up with forever friends!

This weekend Pete and I traveled to Louisville to surprise Steve for his birthday. We had so much fun with the grandkids!

Saying good bye to Craig after we rode the Dragon on our way home from the Cumberland Falls Rally.   He and Robin were headed off to the Cherohala towards Texas.  Pete and I turned and rode the Dragon again, and the Devil's Triangle towards St. Louis.

So if we're gonna do throwback, let's really throw back.  Here are a few photos from the very first Maxi-Scoot Rally in 2007, in Virginia, Minnesota.  Some of you may recognize some of these places and colorful characters.

I enjoyed seeing the photos of the old bikes. How many folks still own the scooters/motorcycles they had in ‘07? I was riding a Kymco People 150 then - long gone.

I gave away my Bet & Win to a kid that really was down on his luck and needed transportation.  I had put over 45,000 miles on her.  We had 5 other bikes and I figured it was a good thing to do.  I still miss that bike so much.   Sadly someone stole it from him.

Our first was a Mother's Day gift in 2007 (Reflex Sport).  We still have it, but it seldom is ridden (she has a Burgman 400 now).  We probably should sell it so it gets used.

This is my 1999 Honda VFR800 Interceptor.  Great bike, but either it didn't fit me or I didn't fit it very well.  Unfortunately, the issues I was having with my right wrist hurting and my arm going numb resulted in the bike going away for another Gold Wing, and hand surgery fixed  the hand problem.  Very fun and fast motorcycle.

My very first two wheel conveyance …. 1996 Honda Helix.  Pic is Dec. 2005.

Learned to ride … got my MC endorsement … keep for 3000 miles, then got a REAL motorcycle:-(

Loved that scoot.  Had the MOST comfortable stock seat ever.  And a ton of fun.

Wish I kept it for sentimental reasons.  Oh well.  You don't know what you don't know, ya know?

Here's a throwback, but not so old--2010.  It's my first big cruiser, a Kawasaki 1700 Nomad.  Good bike, enjoyable to ride, and comfortable.  Had it fitted with a Mustang saddle with backrest, XM receiver on the right handlebar and a J&M. JMCB2004 CB radio on the left handlebar.  Smooth mover on the road.
