Let's Ride!!!!!!

« on: September 02, 2018, 12:55:16 AM »

We made our way down to Nashville yesterday.   We love riding the Woodland Trace in Land Between the Lakes.  For 50 miles it was only Pete and I.

The weather was perfect.

Pete at Cedar Pond - Lake Between the Lakes

Cedar Pond - Land Between the Lakes

Riding Down the Southern Branch of The Lincoln Trail

Now we will chill in Nashville till Tuesday morning.

Nice pics Maggie.  Bob and I have been packing and getting ready for Monday.  Went on our Chicago River Architectural Tour today.  Had some heavy rIn going there.  It let up and rained just a little while we were on the tour.  Very interesting.  Here are some pics.  The wedding is tomorrow.

Yep, good pic. Don't know if it is just the part of the sign you took, but it looks like the graffiti was cleaned up off the sign. Last time I was there the sign was covered really bad with carving/markers. After I took my photo there, I edited it all out of my photo. Anywho, glad you having a good ride and thanks for sharing good pics.

Ok, my turn to contribute. Here's my 2nd day of my ride down.

Started at the New River Gorge bridge and took the road down and across the old bridge. Great riding road.

Then it was on to Mountain Lake Lodge, better known as "Kellermans" as the set for the hit movie Dirty Dancing.

Then the wonderful Back of the Dragon (Highway 16) from Tazewell to Marion. Sure as heck an "Intense" ride but what a piece of road. Puts T-of-D to shame.

And finally, the World's Fastest 1/2 mile at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bob and I left for the Rally this morning about 9:30.  Attended my niece’s wedding last night got home around 1am and got to bed at 2am.  Slept till about 7:30.  We were pretty well all packed just last minute items. Just moving slow.  We arrived in Clarksville, TN. About 7 pm 425 miles.  No pics. Indiana is pretty boring.  KY was nice but we just wanted to get to our Red Roof Inn and chill.  Was pretty hot today.  Temps on the bike reached upper nineties.  Ugh!!

We should meet up with Maggie, Pete his sister and Bruce tomorrow and roll into Scottsboro tomorrow mid to late afternoon.  See you at the Red Roof Inn.

My kinda report. Just enough words to explain who, what, when, or where and pictures to stimulate a riders blood!!!!

Met up with Maggie, Pete, Karen, Bruce this morning road down to the Scottsboro with them.  Stopped in Lynchburg and ate at the Barrel House BBQ Part 1 for lunch.  Got  to the Red Roof Inn about 2:45.    See you all at dinner if I haven’t seen you let.  Here are couple of pics.

A few more from my Tuesday ride down.

Took the Foothills Parkway (awesome dawn scenery) then the Tail of the Dragon and met up with John Powell to ride the Cherohala Skyway together, with a stop at Bald River Fals. Then on into Chattanooga where John got a new tire and I went up to Lookout Mountain to enjoy the views.

Now that may just be a dirty hand print but on the other hand it looks to me a whole lot like the aftermath of a forensic investigation.

A few images from today's long ride, the Talladega National Forest and the Little River Canyon National Preserve.
What an awesome day of riding, especially "the Hill" and a wonderful group of people who shared the ride and made it such a success. Thanks to everyone!

Had a nice ride of twisties and elevation changes today.  Thanks, Maggie.  Good to see you out on the Spyder.

We had lunch at Dixie Freeze after shopping at Hammer’s in South Pittsburgh.

Yes it was, Ron.  I loved we rode up one side and down the other.  The mountain ridge was beautiful.   My regret was not stopping at the orchard.

I loved 91 along the river.

Alabama roads are nice, a tad rough but they make up for it with diversity and scenery.

What a difference in road conditions between where you were and where I live. Had i shot a video of a twisty road it would have ended within 30 seconds and the elevation change would be less than 200 feet. I’m a bit jealous of the roads/scenery you had for your rides. Thanks for posting.

It really hurt me to miss the rides.  As Win reported, I was on the way to Wednesday’s Lynchburg ride when my bike quit. I ended up driving 4hrs round trip to the shop in Nashville. Yesterday they called and told me it was a broken coil wire.

At least I got to meet some of you at dinner on Tuesday!

Big thank you to all the folks that organized the Meet Up!!!  I hope to ride with some of you soon!
