Glad you enjoyed it Maggie. I'm not very good at blogging and videos and such but I'm working on it. Just sharing life which is precious to me.

Eric, I am really enjoying your posts.  Finally got to catch up on them today.   Didnít realize Amerivespa was this weekend let alone in Richmond, VA.  I have never attended one of there Rallyís.  They had one in Lake Geneva, Wi in 2012 which is about 65 miles from me.  Started riding late 2010 didnít pay attention to rallyís back then.  Looks like your having fun.

Your first get together was a success and looked like you all had a great time.  I agree with minimac you should organize a scooter meet.

I saw you posted a picture of the steam engine 611. That you would like to ride.  Bob and I have ridden on that engine many years ago and chased it a few times to get pictures.  Those were fun times.  Hope you can come down to Alabama this September so we can all meet you.

Cathy

Cathy,

I heard that next year's AmeriVespa will be in Lake Geneva, WI next year. 830 miles each way for me on my 155cc scoot should be hoot! Maybe I can meet you & Bob there? I'm still seeing what I can do on the Alabama event. It's not looking good as I'm taking a trip to HI and a beach family trip to OBX in September. I'll try though!  What was interesting is 80% of the "planned" rides for AmeriVespa were/are the stuff I had charted for this year. lol I'll get crack'n on the 611 here shortly! If you come to VA, please shout out if you need a pitstop!

Eric,
I was looking on fuelly and saw you had a Forza previously. For 300cc & up scoots, which has been your preferred scoot? And why?

Eric,  thanks for the heads up on AmeriVespa 2019.  I totally missed it in 2012.  Our best friends live in Lake Geneva.  It is a pretty small town compared to the other host cities.  They must of liked it though since thier going back.  It is about 70 miles from us.  It would be great to meet up with you.

Eric,

For a 300 class scooter the Forza falls short on many levels. I'll share my thoughts but please keep in mind it is just my opinion as I do not wish to disrespect Forza owners. The platform is great if you're long legged. The very wide seat makes a reach for the ground for inseam challenged folks. I was very cramped on it with my long legs. The instrumentation is stellar, as in easy to read with the right info. The under-seat storage is severely hampered due to the bucket being shallow. You are challenged to get any helmet in it. The suspension is by far the worst that I have ever encountered. It will jar the fillings out of your teeth. In fact it was so bad that I ordered Ohlins for the rear at $700 and it was a game changer for the ride comfort. The engine 279cc's and to me felt anemic. It pulled more like a 200cc scoot. It would do 70 mph but you were at the upper limits of the scoot. I bought mine new for a song (leftover), $3,700 otd non-ABS, put 2,000 miles on it. Rode it for a year and sold it for $4,000 with the Ohlins.

Side by side comparison to the Xmax, the Xmax outshines in every category. Performance, leg room, acceleration, top speed, cargo capacity. wind and weather protection. But the Xmax was/is quite a bit more money street price wise. One last thing, the bloody tabs. You know how bad your CTX1300D is with tabs breaking off on the panel? The Forza is X 10 worse. Evertime I disassembled that scoot another tab snapped off. The most brittle body work I've ever worked on.

The Forza is a great scoot at the right price to me but simply put the I tried it on for size and the glass slipper didn't fit. So no prince charming for me. I hope my thoughts have added some clarity for you.

Eric, you'll have to plan a scooter get together. Your place looks great(and the El Camino), and I'm sorry I missed this event. I'm glad you made the journey to the site. You guys coming over from the ADV and Sport Touring  boards are a great addition. I hope you decide to stick around!

minimac,

Of course I'll stick around till Maggie bums rushes me outta here! I'm kicking around a scooter meet at the cabin much like I did for st.o. I'm not sure i can host 40+ folks though... I can host maybe a dozen inside and all you want can camp by the lake on my property. It's more an issue of trying to feed that many & provide showers. If I do act upon this idea I'll reach out to Maggie and go from there.

Whelp... I'm headed to Minneapolis this weekend to pick up a 1981 Vespa P200 E, 19 hours each way driving. What i wouldn't give for a wingman to help with the diving. I can't wait to get my paws on this beast. This will be next winter's project.

Eric, when do you leave?  Or have you left already.  Are you driving through Chicago? I don’t know how tight your schedule is but maybe Bob and I could meet up with you grab a bite or cup of coffee or something.

I'll probably leave Friday and knock off most of the drive. I can reach out to you when I know a time frame but I'll have a trailer in toe. I don't trust a 37 year old scoot to make it home just yet. I'll send a PM when I get on the road. I would enjoy having a bite to eat and meeting you guys.

Here's an awful pixelized video the seller sent me. I'm in a fleabag motel and hope to get on the road early in the morning.

I got to admit that you got my back up over the Cleveland comment.  Not lol  As one who has had an opportunity to stay in some of the least costly motels throughout the country, I never once thought bad about the community the motel was located in - just tried to never stay in another room from that chain.  So please explain what the heck your choice of a “fleabag” motel has to do with Cleveland.

I taken a few pictures in its present condition. As I dig into it I'll post the questions I have as I go along.

First off, some of the roads I travels were rough to put it mildly. So much that over time I sheared both L bolts that hold the trailer gate up. So I MacGyver'd what was left of the L bolt to get home.

Random pics of 37 years of use and abuse.

Gauge and warning lights are in right decent shape.

It appears to be missing the on - off switch.

Piaggio grips

The top box is in surprisingly good shape but it missing one of the reflectors on the right side.

The warning label inside the topbox.

The rack for the box isn't too pitted and in good shape.

Rear bumper has a crack.

And the heart of her. Heaven knows how old the spare tire is.

Front fender is rough.

Pet carrier.

Suspension is shot front and rear.

As posted by Cathy in another thread, I had the honor and pleasure of meeting up with Bob and Cathy in Chicago for my first deep dish pizza. I am amazed at the kindness of the 2 wheeled community. Thank you Cathy!

While I'm waiting on some parts from across the globe to get a start on the P200E it has been raining hard for a while now in VA. I took these pics about 2 weeks ago.

And I took these around the lake today.

Torrential rains poured down all last night. Not my digs but there's a few on the lake hating life.
