That means Len and Phil are coming.  danceing

Plans months in advance are becoming more and more an optimistic viewpoint so lest I tempt fate deities concurring and conflictual circumstance not occurring I shall return, hopefully not again tardily.

Hey Bruce.... if you're riding down and back, let's talk and maybe ride together. I've got a route scoped out already.

Sounds good. I'm taking my Burgman to a guy next week to get the CVT rebuilt.  I didn't feel like parting it and it runs too good to let go dirt cheap. I'll have it back and well tested by then.

Just talked with Selena (campground manager) and reserved a space from 4-10 Sep. She made the comment that we’ll have the place to ourselves. lol  We asked for the pull through site 49b. It has a large area next to it so should be able to handle a group gathering.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this year!

I have made a reservation at the Red Roof Inn and Suites from the 4th thru the 9th.  I can cancel up to 2:00 pm on the 4th at no charge.
We're booked at the same place.  High ratings & inexpensive.  Goose Pond only has cottages ($200+14%+$1/nite) and tiny cabins ($130+14%+$1/nite) left.

Well, got all my hotels booked for the ride down from Toronto and the return trip. Taking 3 days to ride down but 5 days to ride back.

Will manage to hit the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway both on the way down and again on the way back. Will ride up some of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive but will also be detouring some to have a ride on Claw of the Dragon and other roads in the Marion/Wytheville area.

The Claw of The Dragon is awesome.  1,000x better than the Tail of The Dragon.

Id love to return there again.

Totally agree Maggie ... my absolute favorite of any of the topography we have visited and ridden.  Hard to beat ... even with a stick!

Don't forget the Back of The Dragon! The Tail of the Dragon is just a primer for it. I even liked "The Turn".

Yeah I guess its more called the Back of the Dragon versus the Claw that we did.  Hwy 16.   It was simply amazing.

Ya, I've got my route set up that I run the stretch of Hwy 16 from Tazewell to Marion, once on the way down and again on the way back up.
One other road that I've looked forward to riding is TN-133 running south out of Damascus and thru the arch at Backbone Falls.
So many great roads in this area it's just figuring out my route to catch as many of them as I can as I pass thru.
Although I'm still a bit confused as to what they officially call "Claw of the Dragon" vs "Back of the Dragon".

I just whimped out and made reservations at the Red Roof Inn.
Anyone want to buy a 4 man tent. I haven't used it for the last three years.

That Super 8 was a total dive and if that's not bad enough the lady manager basically threw me out the last night.  That was a big part of my motivation to do the ride over the UP and down through Michigan on my way home to Chicago.  If you ever want to know what cold feels like ride across the UP in the middle of the night when the temperature has dropped into the 30s and the heated gear has blown a fuse.
