Yamaha is clearing out their stock of 2015 Tmaxes. I traded in my 2009 on one last month. Darwin bought one also. Here's my report.
I only had 3 complaints about my 2009 Tmax.
1) The windshield SUCKED. The stock shield was turbulent and wobbled all the time. I replaced it with a short GIVI shield which smoothed out the air, but allowed a LOT of loud smooth air. I replaced the GIVI with a Powerbronze sport shield. It was a bit taller and pushed some of the air to the sides, but still very loud.
2) Premium fuel. Not only is it expensive, not all gas stations have it.
3) A bit underpowered. I always wished it had 20 more horsepower.
Yamaha fixed all 3 problems. The windshield is now the 3rd best I've experienced, behind only the Gold Wing and the ST1300 Honda.
Not only does the new Tmax burn regular gas, but mileage is up about 10% to 55mpg or so.
I didn't get the 20hp I was wishing for, but the new Tmax is noticeably stronger in the midrange. It runs better stock than my 09 did with Dr Pulley slider weights.

I can't rave enough about the new Tmax. If your priorities for a scooter are handling and light weight, this is absolutely the bike to have. And it's also all day comfortable.
Yamaha is clearing them out right now. I got mine for $7000 but a local dealer has one now for $6000. Don't wait, you won't regret it.

Congrats on the new Tmax.  Your analysis of the 2009 is very on.  The owner before me added this MRX addition to the windscreen that made the airflow livable for me.  My gripes are just the same as yours with it and my liking of it is just like yours.  The twenty horsepower is what I most wanted from their improvements and the regular gas.  I've just never ridden anything that could handle like the Tmax.  $6,000.00 is a very tempting price, but I'm sure that I'd take it on the chin some for my 09.  I think I'll wait til the back tire is shot at least.

Gurock- Switching the stock 19 gram rollers to 17gram sliders my not find you the additional ponies you're looking for, but it's supposed to make a HUGE difference, especially in the mid range, in waking up the horses that already reside in the older model. A low restriction airfilter and multi-lug sparkplugs will complement that upgrade. Here's a link to some other owners and what they had to say:

Bruce, you're right, except that I already did it at the 15k belt change.  It does exactly what you said.  You get a little faster take off especially in the second and third seconds of fast acceleration or the 20-70 MPH area.  I really think that the issue for Yamaha is that they can't fit more engine and still keep all the other very good qualities of the Tmax.  Also I forget if the new 2015 Tmax has anti-lock brakes?  I think it does, but don't remember.

No anti-lock, although the front wheel has a gear as if it did.
I guess for uniformity in the Euro market.

There are 4 versions of the TMax over here. The DX comes equipped with ABS, the SX and plain jane it's an option. The 400 TMax as ABS on the rear only??? There are 3 more sub-models (300, 250, 250) but I didn't look at them.

14,200  TMax DX $16,190
13,200  TMax SX $15,050
12,400  TMax      $14,140

I stopped at Donnelson's South the other day to daydream and see if they happen to have a Tmax with my name on it.  The sales guy was newish and I hadn't met him before.  When I asked if they had any left over Tmax's he said they don't stock them because they run about $10-$11K, but they can order one.  Went on to say that I didn't want a Tmax because those are pretty big scooters, well those are 500 cc you know.  He pointed me in the direction of a couple of Zumas he had sitting outside.

I had to control my laughter as I played along.  Well golly sir, those are pretty spiffy scooters you have there.

It was really funny when Terry, the manager, came out of the back said Hi Carolyn, how's that Silverwing treating you?  Which motorcycle you looking at?  We then stood and compared recent AR trips for a while.  The sales guy slinked off to the corner.  I was amused.  Sometimes its just fun to mess with silly people who make assumptions.

AND, they now make aftermarket body kits for the 2015, like the one we put on my brother's 2012 Tmax 530 after he put it down, so you aren't stuck with "Asphalt Grey". This one is LESS than $450!

I've always been amazed that people would pay for the privilege of advertising a product not their own. Be it on bikes, cars, T-shirts, or hats.

There was a "Camel" series crotch rocket they were selling over here a few years ago and they were asking about $1000 for the extra paint.

The point isn't to advertise, it's to make your Tmax look like Valentino Rossi's Tmax.

Well I was hoping to add a tale of buying a TMax today. After thinking, stewing, planning, checking bank account, and rearranging garage this am I headed over to ATVs and more in Salem IL this am.  Figured I would purchase today and pick up next week. I even talked to my bank before I went.  I checked the website four times this week and bike was still listed.  You can see where this is going and yes I called and emailed them before I went. I hadn't heard back but figured it's a nice day for a ride.

They have had a 2015 TMax forever. Got over there to find a sold sign on it. Damn it. Sales guy said a dude from MA bought it late Thurs afternoon and is picking up on Monday. I left my name and number just in case the guy backs out.

 Sadly no TMax for me...today.

FYI - the and more of ATVs and More is cars, side by sides, motorcycles, scooters, tractors, and backhoes. There may have been a few other things. That is just what I saw while dejectedly looking at motorcycles.

Actually Europe is on Gen 4 and we're on Gen 3. Don't forget the original steel framed one.
I'm fine with that because the newest Tmax is Fugly.

Carol, there's one in Charleston, IL for $6,300.00.  Maybe you should ask them what they would go for to get it sold.  I think that Charleston is fairly close to you.  It's near to where the Moonshine Rally is.

Thanks, yep, I'm on it.  Talked to the yesterday.  They are "talking to the sales manager".  You know the routine.  Wish I would have seen this last weekend, I was over in Salem, Effingham (where the bike is) isn't that far from Salem.

Might be able to put together a deal and pick up this weekend.  Doesn't everyone buy a bike in the middle of a heat wave.

There is no bad day to buy a bike.  I went to college, a long time ago, at S.I.U. in Carbondale so I've always known where those places are.

Carol, just for the heck of it I looked at Cycletrader and search tempest.  What I found was that the ones in Illinois were the lowest prices anywhere.  Just tell them that you talked to your lawyer, the same guy that says that 40 x 4 = 120, and he says that $5,350.00 OTD is more then a fair price.  Seriously good luck with the hunt.

Well...adding to the story...Talked to dealer in Charleston/Effingham IL, all but bought the bike, did financing, was going to take them a deposit check on Tuesday and sign paperwork.  Wasn't as good of a deal, but was still ok.  I had lined up a trailer to pick up this coming Sat.  Tues morning guy in Salem (at ATVs and More) called to say he found one and would sell at decent price (cheaper than the Effingham bike).  We chatted for about 3 min and I said I would take it.  I then had to cancel with Effingham, cancel financing, cancel trailer.

I ran over to Salem on Tues after work and gave them a deposit.  The bike is currently in Chicago and will truck down this week.  They will add battery and prep and let me know when I can pick up.  All this is fine with me.  Its too freaking hot to ride anyway, so I'm in no hurry.

2 odd tidbits - the original bike at ATVs and More that was sold was still there.  Guy hasn't picked up yet.
And, paperwork says I'm buying a 2016.  I questioned the sales guy.  He said that is what the Chicago warehouse told him.  He didn't have the VIN or paperwork at the time.  15, 16, either way is fine with me.

So, I'll have a new Tmax in a couple weeks.  Yippee.
