One of the electric rear-view mirrors on my '08 650 has become loose and wobbly and I can't find any way to fix it. Even LeDude was no help. Can anyone here help?

The mirror actually comes apart. The plastic around the glass can be pried off. Then you can see the adjuster screw that tightens the spring. You can undo the screw and then take out the turn signal lamp. Drill a hole where the screw goes and put a long, thin bolt through and you'll be able to adjust your mirror's tension.

If it is the entire housing then the three bolts that attach it to the frame may have come loose. Two are fairly easy to get to. You can access them by taking the dash off. The other one is under the flexible boot at the front and you will have to pry it away to get to the bolt.
The other thing it might be is that the electric folding mechanism may have broken. If that is the case I don't know for sure what to do about it. You might try what Maggie quoted in her post. Past that only thing I can suggest it to replace the mirror.

I got playing around with it tonight and now the whole unit is just hanging there. Until tonight the motor worked and it folded. It looks like one of the screws holding it in place broke off.
