... snipped ... I am now looking at a Honda CTX 700 G.

John, there is lots of good information on the https://www.ctx700forum.com/forums/ website and a number of its members have come from the maxi-scooter world.

At one point I was considering a DCT version of the CTX700 which are not available in Canada.  I decided to pass the importing process (which I have done 6 or 7 times) and picked up my current Silverwing instead.

I like my CTX700 but the back suspension is not plush regardless of the setting. Just received my new Penske shock and hope to get it installed next week.

That's good news (I think) John. I hope you have better luck getting it fixed than I had with mine. If they can fix it as well as Craig fixed his, you'll be able to go well over 100,000 miles!

Good Luck on the repair John.  I hope it works and lasts a long, long time for you.

I think I'll have it fixed and then sell it. It looks like a Honda CTX 700 with the DCT will be my next ride

Here's a good CTX700 forum to join if you want to some some advance reading.

Just convince those shipyard personnel to get all the AK 550 scooters sitting in containers on the coast out to dealers. I want to sit on one before the rubber rots.

The CTX700 is simply a repackaging of one of the NC700 series. If you like foot forward controls like a big cruiser in a smaller package then you'll like one of those. But that foot position is NOTHING like the ergonomics of any scooter, even super scooters. I've owned both and my tailbone thanks me for choosing the better of the two. It's also NOT anything close to the CTX1300 (aside from engine size), which I've also owned (a much better bike IMO, but no longer my style of ride).

The Ctx700 is a much better ride with floorboards. Most of us have installed them.

If you feel the need:
I got my wife a CTX700 a few years ago. Coming off her Forza scooter, she wasn't comfortable with the foot brake. I got a rear brake lever and gear for a Silverwing and had it installed. Perfect cosmetic match and worked perfectly.

Congrats, John! Waiting to hear your thoughts after you put some miles on it.  I'm still looking for an AK550 to try.

Just put a Penske shock on my CTX. Highly recommended, takes the harshness out of the ride. People under 160 pounds seem okay with the factory shock.
