Safety Issue re Forks Bolts

Saw this at our club board re-posting here...  I have not had time to read the link...


Read this post over on the ADVrider forum (yes they have a scooter section) regarding the fork bolts and possible torquing issue?   OR, it could be a dealer screwed up on the maintenance he was performing and didn't want to admit it.
Judge for yourselves, but check the bolts.

Checking the touque on those bolts is one of the items listed in the maintenance schedule to be done at each service interval (3,500 miles).  There is a whole string of bolts and nuts listed in the manual to be checked.  Many people just skip that item and never check theirs.  I don't check mine at every service interval but I do check them every other service (7,000 miles).  There are six bolts in total on the fork clamps, one on each side on the top clamp and two on each side on the bottom clamp.  I usually will find that at least one of the six fork clamps bolts is under torque spec.  The other set of bolts that I often find below spec are the exhaust flange bolts.  I seldom find any of the 3 dozen or so other bolts and nuts on the list are below spec.
