Updating from the Comfort Inn, Chambersburg, PA, I'm still here with a poorly feelin Ford on a Sunday. Sears was able to ascertain some information concerning excessive fuel in the cylinders. Further exploration was beyond their usual fare and of course limited Sunday parts attaining to boot. I'll have her fetched to the Ford Dealer come morning to find if she is to be put down or has a chance of survival. I am safe, fed and sheltered, will do a bit of Civil War site exploration tomorrow while awaiting the Explorer's fate.

Phil....sorry to hear about the Explorer.   Maybe the "check engine" light meant more than we thought.  Hope you can get it solved and head for home.

I'm in Altavista, VA, tonight at the Comfort Inn.  Hope to make it to Orangeburg, SC, tomorrow and then on the Clermont, FL on Tuesday.  Weather looking good the whole way in to Florida.  The scoot is purring right along.

Again...had a great time at the Rally and really enjoyed meeting everyone.   Let's do it again!

Home safe & sound about 8:45pm.  Followed the St. Louis crew as far as Columbus, OH where we all stopped at the Iron Pony for an hour, then split up ... they on I-70 and we on I-71.  Heard they dined in Dayton about the time we did so in Covington, Ky.  Just heard that they're holing up in Terra Haute for the night.

Awesome rally - definitely one worth repeating.

I am at Keystone Ford, just wheeled car into operating room. So should know soon whether she will roll again or remove from life support. Still having fun so no pity, just a status update. A big THANK YOU to those who have offered assistance, great folks!

Hi Everyone, Karin and I rolled into our driveway late yesterday afternoon safe and sound.  No more issues with the trailer as the wheel and axle held fine all the way back to Canada.

On the drive home we hypothisized about what might have happend.  We deduced the trailer fender worked itself loose, jammed underneath the wheel which caused it to stop rotating suddenly and shear the lug bolts which caused the wheel to launch into the tall grass beside the road.  Luckily it was on the fog line side and nobody was hurt by the renagade tire.  We will be replacing the axle as over an inch was ground off the bottom of it before I was able to pull over and stop.

We had a great time riding and sociallizing with y'all and hope to make it to another Rally again.  It's really nice riding with other scooter enthusiatists and learning more about our southern neighbours!

A special thanks to all involved in organizing the get-together (special nod of the helmet to Maggie), mapping out the rides and putting on the Saturday night spread.  We know it takes many hours of work to get it all done and Karin and I are very appreciative.

Phil, we know what a pain vehicular issues can be when travelling ... hopefully your troubles with your vehicle are an easy (and relatively cheap) fix.

Cheers to all.  Ride safe ... all-ways!

Made it home at 6 pm last night.  Had a great traveling partner with Paul (mascoot) who found a very scenic and efficient route for us to head home.  Take care everyone and hope to ride with you all again.

Phil I hope the Explorer doesn't cause too much of a headache.  Good luck getting that sorted.

We would of made it home sooner but got stuck in traffic in Chicago as Da Bear game was getting out.

I to had no further trailer problems. Robbins marine did a fine job fixing it up. I called them this morning & thanked them for helping me out & doing a fine job.

Gladys and I pulled in mid-afternoon Monday.  No rush to get home so we took it slowly.  Super WalMarts and Jo Ann Fabrics always add a few hours to any trip.

For those of you who were kind enough to favor me with a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and receive a RWWO patch, a big THANK YOU.  I've posted the donations on the JDRF Walk Site so you may verify them.  The page is at
http://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR/Walk-KY/Chapter-Kentucky4233?px=1406269&pg=personal&fr_id=1908.  There's also a brief summary of why this is an important issue for Jan and me.

The patch ...

(Should anyone else want a patch, PM me and we'll work out some manner of postal exchange)

Made it to Orangeburg, SC, today.  Great weather for riding.  Expect to make it home to Clermont, FL, tomorrow evening.  Route 301 the rest of the way.  Scoot just purring along!  Of course, the throttle lock sure helps the wrist on a long trip.  Maybe I'll just skip by the house and head on down to Key West!  Naw...the wife wouldn't like it if I didn't take her!

Glad to hear most folks have already made it home safely.

Hey Phil, do you know the fate of the Ford yet?

Rest in Peace green Ford, you served without complaint but in the end I asked more than your old engine had left in it. Some may remember I purchased the Explorer from my son and shortly after I received a like amount from insurance for hail damage. So let's just say I finally got around to doing something or I could say I got my money's worth out of the old girl. This is one cat that took a bit of creative skinning but barring further difficulty I should be back on the road in a not new but 10 years younger vehicle with a bigger engine with many less miles. Green was always my least favored color anyway.
edited to add - Thanks to everyone for the moral support and offers of assistance from those close by, a big help with not letting a few problems spoil enjoyment of the trip. What a great bunch of folks!

Nice, Phil!!  Very nice!!

We got home about 11.  We blew another tire on the trailer and was greatful for an easy fix.  It's nice to have someone loan you their stuff but at the end of the day you never know how they maintain their stuff.  Thanks to a conversation with Bill & Vicki, Pete found the trailer he wants.
