Let's Ride!!!!!!

« on: May 27, 2012, 02:30:56 PM »

Thanks so much to Steve and Beth for taking us on a guided tour of Bennett Springs!  I think only 3 more springs on our Missouri list to check off!

Friday was the perfect day to do the float.  Not another soul on the Huzzah!  We probably had to get out and drag through shallow spots about 20 times. But was not annoying as it was nice to get in the water as the water was the perfect temperature. We really need some rain!

If you can do a 5 hour float with no fights or arguments you really love the other person  We ended up completely in the water twice, damn stumps!

Saw a lot of trout, brim, sucker fish and snakes!  Even what looked like a copperhead.

Yep, the rivers around here never cease to amaze me. I enjoy floating and get on the water at least 10 times a year. It's wonderful having so many choices and they are all just as beautiful as any other. Clear water, beautiful scenery and most the time friendly people along the way.

You picked a section of river that was pretty slim on water and that explains why you were alone. Makes for a bit longer day with the drags thru shallows, but also a nice quiet trip so that you can enjoy the day.

Thanks for sharing the great pictures. I constantly tell people, " I live in Paradise!"

The alone part was nice actually   All of our friends kept saying you are making a big mistake going Memorial Day weekend.  I picked Friday just because I felt we would beat the crowd.

The water at Devil's Elbow looked a lot fuller than the Huzzah.    Over all we need rain!

SDawg, next Sunday we are going to ride to Bixby for lunch, it is one of our fav places!  We should be to Bixby by 12:30-1pm.

Serena and I loved the river float experience, we did it when we visited Missouri a few years ago.  We didn't quite get it, we picked a kayak and at times hustled it down the river.  We watched as others simply drifted in a tube with another tube tied behind them towing a cooler.

These are very lovely photos Maggie and they make me miss my time visiting the Lake of the Ozarks region.

Looks great Maggie!  Floating, fishing, relaxing, and all with a cool beverage in hand.
