Maxi Scoot Rally 2012
When: September 6-9, 2012 Where: Steel Steeds (Click -----> Website ) Lewisburg , Pennsylvania
The accommodations in the campground are varied, from a primitive campsites to deluxe campsites to RV'S they rent out like cabins to RV space hookups.
When you are ready to make a reservation just fill out the form on their site, Diane said this is the best way to contact them. Just fill in the form and and request the need for a reservation. They will then contact you. Contact Steel Steeds
For those not wanting to stay in the campground, here is a list of hotel/motels close by. Hotels in Lewisburg Near Steel Steeds
Amenities:
In Lewisburg there are many amenities including a Wal-Mart Super Center. Lewisburg is home to Bucknell University so you will find many restaurants and cafes. Details:This is a free rally!
We will be making shirts, patches and stickers which will be available for purchase prior to the event of course this is totally optional. I have already had requests for sponsors, I will figure out how we can do this. More than likely a gathering on Friday night and have drawings for items we collect?
As is the running theme with this website, it is about ALL of us! If you have any suggestions please let me know. Having run a very successful rally for years (HAMS) I have learned over the years that it is better to allow people to eat on their own. We are there for the riding and fellowship. We will have organized rides and be able to hang out and enjoy each other in the evenings at the campground. People who do not wish to stay at the campground are welcome to be with us at the campground in the evening.
Rides:
As we get closer to the event we will start planning the rides and posting those. There are a lot of great riding opportunities in the area!
We are all very excited and looking forward to seeing you all!PS: Please feel free to post this on as many other forums as you like!

I will say we picked PA as a spot as it is sorta basically in the middle of the owners of the site. We sure would love to meet as many of you as possibly can come. This is why we are getting out the advance notice.
I thought it was to ensure I had time to procure a good trailer.

I'll be there and try to talk the boss into tagging along. We ride the bike down if I am batching it or tow it on a trailer if Mary Ann is coming. Looking forward to meeting as many folks as possible. England for 2013?

Sweeeet! There is an awesome covered bridge route! Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk The timing might end up working very nicely. By the late summer of 2012, there should be two licensed riders in the house, as Ratchet now has her learner's permit. However, in Maryland a driver must be 16 years, six months to get into the BRC. Most likely, the earliest we can get her into a BRC class is spring of 2012.

Maggie they are much more responsive with emails than phone calls... at least that was my experience and a few others. Nice and easy going attitude though, looks like a great location
I will be there, kinda wish it was this year as I'm very excited to meet the members and to reacquaint myself with old friends.

Steel Steeds' web site http://www.steelsteedscamp.com/Home_Page.html gives a warning to MapQuest and Google Map users. The address on the web site is "1095 State Highway 405, Milton, PA." The reference to Mindy's Tavern didn't work on Mapquest when I tried the location and put the marker north of Lewisburg in the town of Milton. However, if you substitute the word "Route" for "Highway" in a http://www.mapquest.com search for Mindy's Tavern at "1115 State Route 405, Milton, PA," the marker appears very close to the right location for Steel Steeds, perhaps a fraction of a mile or so southeast.

Matt, barring any unforseen circumstances, furtherest you'll have to walk is Knoxville and back, I can fetch you the rest of the way. If any of the Florida folk are heading up I-75 driving maybe they would have room to get you to Knoxville, if you can make your way to an exit. Aww heck, If you're still in dire straights when the time comes, I'll drive three hours or so to cut down on your walking. I can get to Rome, Jasper or might near to Ackworth in about three hours, you any further south into Georgia than that? You'll have to listen to classic rock & roll on the road. If you can live off the dollar menu, same as me, I'll even make sure you don't starve on the way up and back. I'll have a cooler of cold drinks, anyway. We can probably find some help keeping you fed and a floor to sleep on while we're there.

After our visit to Centralia http://maxi-scoots.com/scoot/index.php?topic=2440.0, our route home took us fairly close to Steel Steeds. We took the opportunity to stop by and have a look at the place. Bob Sykes (wife Diane wasn't there at the time) is the co-owner, a very pleasant fellow who gave us a wonderful tour of the camp ground. When I mentioned Maggie, he knew who I was talking about from his conversations with Diane. GrayStripe and Mimi in the "Outback." Bob indicates that people may wade quite a distance into the Susquehanna River before the water is any more than chest high. Fire pit and group socializing area. In this location, Bob indicates that a visiting group might erect the equivalent of a military GP tent for group events. During our visit, we reserved the "Outback" for the September 2012 rally.
