Dan, I have the feeling the dash is still not complete so they did a prototype thing and used what is available. Those of us who sold Fords in the mid to late 90's should recognize the gauge layout of the early to mid 90's Escort LX. The GT speedo went to about 120 and the LX speedo went to about 85. Tachometer was only available on the LX and GT gauges. I'm not expecting anything exotic with the Elio. That just looks like a start point to me. I haven't noticed a supplier for gauges and dash so they probably just shoe horned in what they could find cheap at a junk yard.

It's sharp looking, I really like the design.  The only part I don't care for is the very generic dash, it's not bad, just not as exciting as the rest of the machine.  Worried about the motor, understanding that whatever is running it now is not the production unit makes me wonder how far along they may be.  I don't remember the exact cost but the Motus motor, which is made in Detroit, costs nearly as much as the Elio itself.

Its just a genetic dasboard, Some have said its from a GEO metro. The engine in the prototype is a GEO engine. IAV is going to design the engine & drivetrain & its going to be made @ the Shreveport factory.

Keep in mind this is just a prototype. Stuff like dashboard parts are not yet in production. This is just an idea of what I'm going to be getting.

Tonight when we went back with other club members we spoke at length with Geno, VP of Manufacturing.  Dude built the Prowler and man can he talk Super nice guy!

Dude is smart, he think top boxes are evil as well.  He said secretly I dislike them because I know they are stealing mpg's, LOL.  Well he was nice and let him think that....

This prototype is far from what the final version will look like.  For example those cool wide tires will be much smaller.  The suspension that we see exposed must be hidden to bring down the down drag coefficient.. etc etc.

We are going to put our $100 down... we discussed more but at this time just the $100.  We can upgrade that "reservation"  at anytime.

It has been reported that they have 13.000. I find that hard to belive as only the $1000 reservations get a number & the highest number reported in their FB page in in the 500rd's and if this poll from this forum is any indication. Well it speaks for itself.

Since following this since February. Its really starting to steam roll. Getting it out for people to see is going to be a huge boost.
Also I now have 7 people on my FB page that "Like" this. For the longest time I had one.

I thought the Achilles' heel of this thing was the fact it is a single passenger vehicle only, but it isn't.

Wow.

Even at $10,000, I can see these things flying off the assembly line since the base smart car starts at $12,500, assuming of course that they aren't hopelessly unreliable. Way neater looking than a smart car too.

Just got back from our 400 mile round trip to see the Elio. It was worth every mile. Very imperssed with the room this vehicle has to offer. Even though this prototype isn't nearly what I'm going to get as a finished product, Still very impressive to say the least. I'm going to be upgrading my Reservation within a couple weeks to the $1.000 level. Simply because to get this sooner the better. Plus to save $500 on the purchase.

I'm also considering taking a bus to Shreveport & driving my Elio home.

Sold 2 more today. My friends Charlie & Steve came along for the ride. Their going to be putting in a reservation. Diane about fell over when Charlie announced he was buying one.    He's trying to not be the richest man in the cemetary. Love my Buddy!
