Very lucky. Have seen two crossing the road in front of me in the last week, both around Noon in broad daylight.

I saw one on the way to work at 4:15am. I had plenty of time to figure out he was as surprised to see me as I was him

Yikes. My biggest fear is the deer! Moron's behind the wheel of 3500 lb. killing machines are somewhat predictable:-( Deer, OTH, be crazy and VERY unpredictable.

Have only come close to that. Hoping that trend continues and no closer. I did hit one with a car but going slowly by the time it hit. I have found they respond better to light flashing on/off a lot more than horns or whistles. Since they have about the same hearing range as peoples. Though there are many peoples who don't seem to respond to lights OR horns. I tap the starter button to flash the headlights and scared off a few that looked like they were deciding about jumping out in front of me. That only works with old style incandescent headlights and not with LED head lights that don't blank when starting the bike. Does not harm the starter since it won't spin unless holding the brake lever but lights do blank out.

There isn't a button to flash the headlight on a Burgman? Should be on the left hand under the index finger (just guessing but...)

That button does flash the high beams from the low beams. Tried that before but didn't seem to get bambi's attention. Besides, it doesn't do anything if riding with high beams turned on all the time which is how I ride until sunset.
The starter button flashes the headlights ON and OFF regardless if high or low beam, which gets a lot more attention.
My CTX1300 had LED headlights and since those don't draw all that much power they did not flash on/off with the starter switch. I wonder if the AK 550 does the same as that bike since it also has LED headlights.

We don't have deer over here (not like in the US) but the priests in their black robes seem to enjoy testing God's will. ----- TEMPUS FUGIT ------ I get the same results on the AK. They don't dim with the starter button. No effect at all. But, shouldn't that be a fairly simple mod to get that button to cut out the light instead of hi-beam? We use the flashing high beams over here as a normal part of driving but not so much in the US.

Just got back from a short ride and a doe and fawn bolted in front of me. Less than 50 feet but at dusk I had already slowed since deer cross here quite often. Only a 1/2 mile from home, my heart rate got a short workout. Whew.

Thanks for checking that. It is as I suspected. We actually do use the high beam passing switch over here... at least I do. But since I normally ride with high beams on in daylight hours I first hit low beams and then flash like mad on the pass-to-flash switch to get someone's attention. I've always felt that blanking out all headlights would be a better idea anyway since it is far more noticeable. Maybe a mod for another day?
