I bought a new 2020 Xmax 300 a week ago, after spending the past year looking for a used one. I was going to wait on the 2021 model, hoping for a better color than the flat black or dark gray but from what some dealers have told me the '21 color is supposed to be black again. White is my preferred color followed by red. I really didn't want the gold wheels on the '20 get away from me. Yamaha calls the color Shadow Gray which to me looks Olive Drab.  It looks like I'm not going to have enough time before the the snow flies to get through the break-in period.

My XXL Scorpion helmet just barely fits under the seat but only with the chin bar open. I have to give the seat a firm push to get it to close.

Standing on the floor boards makes it an adventure bike, right?

The cockpit is not as roomy as my old Honda Silver Wing but I'll get used to it. I think the large step in the seat forces me too far forward so I found a damaged used seat on Ebay. Over the winter I'll play with the used seat to see if can make the riding position more comfortable.

One other thing I want to try is to see if I can modify the underside of the seat pan to see if I can make it easier to store my helmet under the seat.

Nice scoot and I side with you on the color back.  I also am going down the same road with a spare seat I picked up off fleabay.  Good luck with the mods and post up some pictures of the seat when you get it done.

Have you tried laying the helmet on the side under your seat? Otherwise looks nice.

I bought a new 2020 Xmax 300 a week ago, after spending the past year looking for a used one.

Good call. I go back and forth with new vs. used.
Although I purchased a used TMax a year ago, the low price sealed the deal.
Otherwise, on a new vs. near-new decision, I'm inclined to choose the new model.

Nice scooter! You'll never want a key again. I loved my XMAX. I ordered a comfort seat from Europe, it improved my ride a lot. Also got the phone holder, and heated grips which is a great deal. Cheers!

Just bundle up and ride!    Over on the "other" site, (it think it was on the SMax) that they had a similar issue with the seat. Some  solved it by cutting the 'lump' out of the pan and covering it over.

I have about 1600 miles on the bike so far and I'm averaging 92 MPG. I do not baby the throttle, I have fun.

I don't hate the seat, it is actually quite good. I like how I can place my feet on the upper angled floorboards
and push my butt back up onto the passenger section of the seat when I'm riding over particularly awful sections of roadway.
The longest time on the seat was about 3 hours in one go and my butt was not sore at the end of it. The suspension is breaking in
along with the engine, it has gotten more compliant and is not as harsh as when I first got the bike. Right now I'm not planning on
modding the seat other than cutting radial slots in the underside of the passenger portion of the seat to see if my helmet fits better.
I never ride with a passenger.. I do have a Utopia backrest from an old bike that I will try and install on the spare seat to see if it works.

I just looked at the 2022 BMW C 400 GT scooter. MAX BMW here in New England has 12 of them listed for $9470, $9640 and $9740 with
8 of the 12 sold. It has 34 HP compared to the Xmax's 27 HP, same size wheels and nowhere near the storage space under the seat.
My bike was $7200 including tax, setup and a 4 year extended warranty.

I am now doubly happy with my purchase.

It checked all the boxes for me except one. I just couldn't get comfortable riding it. I really wanted one, but I just didn't fit right.

I’m looking at getting back on a scooter after a 3-year hiatus. Based on the research I done, the Xmax seems like it may be my first choice except for the seat height. I am vertically challenged - fit perfectly on the pre ‘18 Burgman 400, not sure if I can deal with the 31”+ height of the Xmax seat. Any thoughts?

Also, does the comfort seat lower the height or just increase comfort?

Thx

kpinvt:  Do you know Bud Provin?  I used to be a regular at the Green Mountain Rally back when it was held at Camp Betsy Cox.  Only went a few years after it had moved to Silver Towers but didn't find them to be as much fun as they used to be.  Since the Finger Lakes Club has decided not to hold their rally anymore, maybe it's time to come back. especially since my brother and sister-in-law now live up there.  In any event, I've been riding my 2019  XMAX fairly regularly and I've done several interstate and overnight trips with it.  Maybe I'll ride that up to the rally (unless I've traded it in for a Kymco AK550 by then).  Keep the rubber side down!

Yes I do know Bud. I only go back as far as the last two years at Camp Silver Towers. The new place is Camp Thorpe on Route 73 above Brandon. The AK550 looks very nice.
