Bob and I left on Sunday Oct. 4th from Chicago it was 42į and looked like rain all day.  We were able to dodge it up until the last 45 minutes of our ride into Athens, OH.  445 mile day.  We rode US30 and US33 which was nicer than the interstate.  The rain we did get was not that bad.

On Monday we headed to SR 78 from Nelsonville to Clarington in OH To 7 then crossed the Ohio River to WV20.  Eventually we rode US250 and US219 to Lewisburg, WV.  360 miles. Long day missed a turn rode in the twisties in the dark for two hours. (Not planned).  Hocking Hills area in OH is great riding. Athens is a great place to have a Rally someday.  WV roads were great as well weather warmed up and no rain.  Except when we missed our turn and ended up on gravel and dirt roads for a few miles near sunset following the GPS.  Reminded me of last year when minimac and I were heading back to Cooperstown in the dark.  Hereís a couple of pictures.

Tuesday we headed  to Ericís (Virginian). Much shorter ride 182 miles.  Weather was great.  We had a great dinner with Eric and Lisa.  On Wednesday Eric Bob and I took a leisurely 85 mile ride in Ericís back yard and a had great lunch.  Weather was perfect.  Roads were great.   Eric interviewed us for his Legacy Series that evening.  The next day Eric had an appointment, Lisa was working.  Bob and I headed out on 165 mile loop across  Shenandoah NP on VA 211 towards Luray, VA.  This is where I for the first time had my left boot touch the asphalt while in the twisties.  That was an eye opener. Again the weather was great and so were the roads.  Here are some pictures.  Eric posted some on the Krakenís garage thread.

Friday morning Eric got back from his appointment.  We packed up heading out before TS Delta hit Va.  We rode  I64/77 to Charleston, WV wanted to get north as quickly as possible.  We had left Ericís after 12.  290 mile day.

When we left Charleston on Saturday morning we had about 40 minutes of rain. We took  US 33 again as we headed northeast we rode out of it. Overcast but no more rain.  We stopped at the Iron Pony Motorsports in Westerville, OH.  That is a massive store.  Spent 2 hours in the store.  Dropped a few bills there.  We made our way to Celina, OH for the night.  We rode 290 miles to Celina that day.  Here are some pictures.  The fall colors were definitely more on the way home then on the way down.  Just didnít get many pictures of them.  But enjoyed them as I was riding.

Sunday we left Celina and got home around 5 pm. We took US30 to 394 to I294 around the west side of Chicago.  I hate going around the lake.  Itís more miles about the same time.  We had a great trip.  Enjoyed our visit with Eric and Lisa.  It was a great way to start retirement for me.

Almost didnít go because I am scheduled for right knee replacement surgery on November 2nd.  But the doctors office said go enjoy yourself you will be laid up for awhile so I did.  That was probably my last ride of the season.  We had a great time.  Hoping next year is even better with my knees fixed.  😊

Bruce first things first. It is Cathy with a “C”.  Second I don’t recall that promise.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

Nice outing Cathy. Sounds like you and Bob had a great time.  I remember how dark those wooded roads were coming home from Whiteface Mountain in NY.  Thank goodness Bob had those awesome auxiliary lights and agreed to lead the group.  It was like riding in the daytime with Bob at the front. BTW - I'm just about to pull the trigger on a set of auxiliary pods.  You can tell Bob that the Clearwater Darla's made the short list but because of their cost, they likely won't be my final choice.  Be careful ... stay safe!
