I got a notification that the 550 will be landing in Florida @ Solano Cycle very soon. It has been on my 'short list' for a long time. Figures, I just about have my Silverwing where I want it to be I find that the AK550 has some seriously good mechanics, suspension, breaking, etc but.... The seat is the worse I've ever owned!! If I'm going more than down the street to collect the shopping I use either gel gel pad or an AirHawk or I'll never get to sit comfortable again. Then, there's the lack of lower body protection. Totally missing. I've tried some add-on wind deflectors but the direct sunlight pretty well cooked them off. Then there's parts... I don't know if it's the dealer I bought it from, the local importer, or Kymco but 3 times I've needed or wanted parts and it took almost 2 months the first 2 times and I'm still waiting after almost 3 this time. So, find out, if you can, what kind of supply line they've got. If you lose one of the key-fobs you're looking at a 4 digit replacement. I'm actually looking forward to the Forza 750 that supposed to be coming soon. Any questions?

Nice to see the AK550 available in the US. Hopefully other larger displacement scooters will follow.

Is this real or just a rumor? I haven't seen this anywhere else. I find it hard to believe that Kymco would try to sell the AK550 here given how badly other maxi scooters like the Tmax have sold here. The only way this thing will sell here is if its significantly less than the Tmax was.

Over here the prices were almost the same. You, maybe, could have had a Happy Meal at McD's with the difference.

The notice I received mentioned $8995. IIRC, the TMax was over $12,000.

What is the service interval for oil & belt replacement?
Edit: another question, the photo shows the integrated turn signals. Did they get a waiver for those? DOT has disapproved them previously.

And I can assure you that you'll NOT be changing the oil filter unless you have a lift. A serious amount of tupperware has to come off just to get at it.

...another question, the photo shows the integrated turn signals. Did they get a waiver for those? DOT has disapproved them previously. Will be interesting to see how Kymco sets this model up for export to USA. The dimensions I recall are 9" separation between the rear turn signals, and 16" for the front. My 2009 TMax has a wrap around rear light setup, not sure whether it should be called 'integrated' though, but the turn signal bulbs have sufficient separation. Don't know the current rear turn signal separation on the AK550. Yamaha added horizontal stalks up front to provide sufficient separation on the TMax, although some owners remove them and install turn signals intended for non-US markets. Kymco may have to do something similar if the AK550 has less than 16" separation.

The front turn signals, center to center measure @40cm & 50cm outside (15.7 & 19.7in). The rear are @32cm (12.6in) apart.
