Saint Louis, MO 2020

« on: August 15, 2020, 02:09:35 AM »

Well, today I got my officially approval on my retirement.  My last day is September 30, 2020.

The hospital I work at offered a number of us a Vero Package.  Voluntary Early Retirement Offer.  They will pay my medical insurance as if I were a full time employee till I reach Medicare. 26 months along with 28 weeks of salary plus what I have left of my PTO.  I couldn’t turn that down.  I have worked at Swedish Hospital for over 42 years.   I am done.

Time to enjoy life.  I do need to take care of my knees though.  I will be looking into that this fall and winter.  I have 47 days to go woo hoo!!!   With all the travel restrictions and the pandemic I figure this will be a good time to address the knee problems.  Pandemic issues with surgery not so much but what can you do.

That's great news. Congratulations! Early retirement lured me away and, after two years, I wouldn't change my decision. Best wishes on yours, and enjoy the countdown!

Why, you're so short you'll need a ladder to climb up on the dime so you can kick a gnat in the ass!!!

Congratulations on retirement, Cathy.  You worked for it, you deserve it.  The day you walk out that door you will feel like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders.  I remember that well when I retired from the Alaska State Troopers.  Now take some time and just play, and when you feel that you’ve played enough, play some more.  And remember, there are six Saturdays in the week when you’re retired.

Congratulations Cathy !!!  I like Greg's advice ... play ,,,, and play some more !!!

Once this virus thing is over with, I hope there might be one of your long distance rides in your future to come east and visit Nova Scotia.
It would be great to meet you and Bob.

Waytago Cathy ... you have served your time serving others ... now it's time for a little self-service.   Take care of your body bits ... and hope to see you next year on the road.

Congratulations! I'm done Dec 31st, 2020.
I've had 11 knee surgeries and my best advice for you is to get Celbrex until you can get surgery. The generic is Celocoxib. It's a miracle drug for arthritis.

Yes. Our workload has doubled since we were closed for 3 months plus we lost 3 workers.
They refuse to hire anyone to replace them. It has become a miserable place to work so I'm out at the end of the year.

The hospital offered 260 employees the VERO  package about a 109 of us took it.  Over 400 over all the NorthShore Hospitals.

As Mark stated since Covid hit it has gotten busier and it is just going to get worse as more employees retire and departments get downsized.  I got lucky I am leaving with two other co-workers September 30th.  The other five in my department were asked to stay till December 31st.  41 days and counting.
