Decided to run around a few places near me, always an interesting time to look around the hometown. First stop Long Run park, the lake looked very inviting today.

The mustard is in full bloom.

Then a short ride to the Long Run cemetery which has numerous revolutionary war graves as well as a long association with the Lincoln family.

Return ride cut through some of the Parklands and then a short detour to ride Pope Lick Road. The Norfolk Southern rail trestle is rumored to be the home of the Goatman, aka the Pope Lick monster. A little info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Lick_Monster . The road is also a lovely winding ride.

After a quick u-turn I rode back towards home. Nice soldiers memorial in Jeffersontown plus the unnerving sight of the diving Huey which looks like it is hurtling toward the road on the other side of the knoll.

And just a few more stops before home. This bank changes the top of their artwork regularly.

Finally a little salvation close to home, I maintained my social distance and wore a face shield throughout this ride. Be safe and enjoy your ride.

Yeah just made me realize how bad my scooter needs a wash and wax. I just keep riding instead of cleaning.

Thanks Joan.  I’m hoping to get out this weekend. You have some interesting places to ride to.  And nice roads.

I saw a VW Thing sitting at an old closed used car lot a couple of weeks ago.  Tried to find the owner but no one could help me. I used to rebuild the old bug engines

Bob and I went out for the first time since December 26th, my birthday ad the Covid disaster began.  We rode to my Honda dealer had them check out my side panel.  They are ordering me a new panel no cost to me because I had a little paint chip.  Then up to Lake Geneva to see our friends for a short while and Road home.  Got up to 80 great day to ride.  I like my new additions to the bike.  Rode about 150 miles.  No pictures except one.  It is the Chicago area. Just felt nice to be moving.  Bob and I picked up KFC for a late lunch. The other biker we saw sat one he parking bumpers eating there KFC.  We got to eat at our friends house.

Just a quick trip to make sure Ye Olde Swimming Hole hadn't dried up. Had to dodge a few rain drops on the way back into town. Ma Nature must think it's still April.

Yesterday, I rode from Gardendale to Florala, just so I could say I've ridden the new bike to Florida. Traffic was heavy. Gas stations were busy. Fast food places had various methods for handling drive through....cones to walk through, numbered signs in the parking lot, some just normal drive through, etc. People out talking to each other everywhere. Birmingham is the only place I saw people wearing masks. Small towns/communities were still gathering in parks but it did appear they were Social Distancing there.

If I had just been told about the CV after the ride, I'd have thought the person telling me was joking.

The ones that are showing the most ingenuity are the churches. They seem to be the main ones that law enforcement restricts. Signs along the roadside at multiple locations explaining how to approach the churches, how to park, and how to participate without getting a ticket. This was the scene along HWY  331. I took a different route coming back and there wasn't any of the church signage anywhere near the state capitol. ???? hmmmmmm

Still had a blast yesterday, but needs me a new seat!!!!! About 1/2 the time I was riding, I was thinking about how good it would have been if'n me still had me Xciting 400cc

I'd love to have a Thing, but they've achieved cult status and they aren't worth what they're selling for, IMO.
