I know, I was searching for new videos on my Xc 400i and YT keeps showing me the AK550. Yep, I'm watching all the way through and commenting on them too....
Geeeeeezzzzz, My wife said the next scooter would be the final straw...either her or the scooter....I'm gonna miss her

Seriously though, she spoils me...ALWAYS!!!!!

Amazing Bike. Three-way comparison with the BMW 650 Sport and Tmax 530 said:

Best-handling and braking, and best in the city..KYMCO AK 550

Best on the Autostrada and Touring...BMW C650 Sport

Best All Around...Tmax 530

If price matters? No comparison, AK 550 KILLS the competition. And, it's better-looking then BOTH and has the BEST OEM exhaust sound. No need for any AKRA or the like...

...and we DON'T GET IT  :head:

You know, that sounds like a good theme for a CW song! I think you've got something there to work on.

I went and sat on one this AM just to see if I fit! The AK is a couple of inches shorter than my X10 but there seems to be much more leg room on the AK.

I mentioned to the financial advisor the other day that before I spend another €450 on a major service I'll sell the X10 and get something new. So far.... so good.

While a good credit score is good with the CFO, the personal attention to minor details can often transform a potential sour transaction into a rather sweet deal

Ok, so I'm thinkin' that the holier-than-thou, kickin' 'n screamin', pouting and holding my breath tactic isn't going to work this time?

Well, I'm in this for whatever it takes.

I even love the color. But, should they finally get it to the USA.....
They'll probably change those mirrors, the color, stalks on the rear.
I'm still interested. I've started a program designed to make my transition easier by the time (if?) it gets here!!!

If it comes, that is my next scooter.  I really don't want to have to move to get one. If it doesn't, I'll have to hunt for a NOS Silverwing.

Bruce, which ride you doing Friday?  We gotta exchange info. B4 I get gone ....

IF I miss you, Maggie has my number for ER contacts. She has my permission, and thanks,  to pass it on to you.

IF that fails, I'll PM you ... I think I can do that.

Gotta get that Burgman back up and going:-)

Well, the hunt heated up week before last. The funding is in the back burning holes in their books so it's time to get it out of there before the whole place burns down.

I've found a dealer that want's to work with me so the final decisions are what color and then when. Today I went back to the importer's showroom and found all 5 colors black, grey, silver, bronze and blue. Black & grey aren't even in the running. Bronze was on the top of the list but, damn!!! That blue is one sweet color and the light silver (it's not white) would be the most visible.

Final price is going to be just over 10.000 ($11,300) tax, tags & out the door.

I have no vote in anything but that blue is me all day long, great looking scoot! Good luck with what you decide and we all look forward towards hearing about your new ride.

Well, I started for the bronze but the silver is going to be a lot safer on the road. The lighting on these new machines leaves a bit to be desired IMO. The tail lights on the Piaggios are great if you look at them straight on, high intensity and all that but if you're off on an angle there's nothing to see.

And yea... that blue is really, really sweet! The photos just don't/can't do it justice.

Didj'a all notice that there's no red??? I guess Honda has used it all up. :D

I sure wish we'd get it here. What's happening to the X-10?

I'm going to ask a couple of friends if they want it but if they decline then the dealer is going to take it in trade. I'm taking a bath on it either way. €2,800 from the dealer or €3,300 from the friends. The whole rig cost me about €6,500 back in Nov 2012.

It's amazing what you can get flat-packed these days.

The wrapping's coming off.

And this is about as good as it's going to get until Tuesday or Wednesday after the bureaucrats get done shuffling paperwork.

If it's from IKEA, do you have to assemble it yourself?

After enjoying 10 days of grinding, bureaucratic paperwork she's finally home. I guess I could have picked it up yesterday (The Ides of March) but the weather was bad & today looked like a better choice. More photos tomorrow if the weather holds & I can get out in the AM for better light.

Now I've got the rest of today and tomorrow to figure out all the bells and whistles on the dashboard. I remember when you got a needle and a row of slowly rotating numbers and, if you were really lucky, another needle and some lights.

Damn that plate is HUGE!!!!!!!!

And this is the small one. A couple of years ago the idiots in Belgium decided, all on their own with no input from anybody, to demand a larger plate. The industry wasn't ready, the dealers weren't ready, and most of the bikes didn't have room for that monster! They finally capitulated but if you wanted a smaller plate you had to go through a ton of paperwork and pay out of pocket for the new one.

Vote for bigger government!

I went down the coast road to Cape Sunion this morning, promising not to exceed 50mph (fudged that a bit). This is the road that, for all practical purposes has no strait parts. The AK was nimble and rock steady through all the turns. I'm quite pleased with the handling & the Metzler FeelFree tires are still working as advertised. (I had a pair on my SYM 250i) The CG is noticeable higher than the X10 and the ride is rougher but that may soften up some down the road.

The all digital dash had a habit of getting lost in the sun and the gas gage and I are going to have to have a discussion one of these days. It started screaming at me when there was still over 5 liters in the 15 liter tank and the 2ed 20% disappeared almost before I noticed that we'd gotten down there.

The seat is still a bit hard (I'll bounce a couple hundred pounds on it again tomorrow and see if that softens it up a bit) and the leg room could do with a few more inches but it's adequate. The under-seat storage all but disappears once you've got the helmet (upside down) in it. What's left is a steep slide down into the helmet well that's not much good for anything.

I've still not been able to sync my phone to the scoot. It may be my data plan or my phone as the dealer's phone hooked right up.

1st tank of gas (10 liters & 200 kmeters) produced 50MpGs. I'll work on that when I get past the "break in" period.

As usual on this road, the sun wasn't with me so only one photo with the blue sea in the background. If you want to see the road I was on there's an old clip I took while on the X10 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QeyCvDq2Rc&t=165s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QeyCvDq2Rc&t=165s)
