I've dealt with both JP Cycles and Motorcycle Superstore. Their prices were always good, shipping was quick, and customer service was very good. Sorry to see them go.

Never heard of JP Cycles; last used Motorcycle Superstore over 10 years ago. I tend to support my local motorcycle/scooter dealer as much as possible. Losing a mail order site is not good for the industry; losing my local dealer will also affect my ability to get mechanical service.

quote{The parent company of JP Cycles, MAG Group has also declared bankruptcy last week along with Motorcycle-Superstore.com which has already been shut down and having its traffic forwarded to JP Cycles for the last several months.}close quote

This would explain why the last couple of tires I've ordered from Motorcycle Superstore took so long to get to me.  Before, two days max.  I prefer Bike Bandit:-).  But buy tires from whoever has them cheapest.

I've want to ... have tried to ... would like to ... support my local shops.  BUT, their prices are ridiculous ... and they don't know squat about scooters ... or much about motorcycles for that matter.  They are all pretty much in the four wheeler - side by side business now days.

I change my own tires, service my own scoots ... that way I know its done right and I save some money AND a whole lot of time.  The last time I priced tires at my local Zuki dealer ... they were about $50 more than I could get them online. AND they wanted  $75 to install the rear tire IF I drop it off they would get to it sometime next week. :-((    IF I could not DIY my scooter stuff .... I'd play a lot more golf.

More and more, it seems, a lot of shops are trending toward ATVís, dirtbikes, etc., and away from 2-wheeled motorcycles.  We have a Honda dealer that years ago sold all the Honda motorcycles.  I went in one time for a Gold Wing part, and the kid behind the counter didnít even know what I was talking about.  He had to look it up!!  I donít go there anymore, even when I still riding.  Last time I was there, they had no bikes on the floorójust 4-wheelers and some lawn mowers.

Sorry to see JP go unders.  In the past iíve bought stuff from both them and the Motorcycle Superstore.  Good folks and good service.  I wonder if the motorcycle industry is beginning a downturn.  If so, thatís unfortunate.

I guess I'm lucky to NOT be in that situations! My last tire change cost me €120 ($135US) mounted and balanced and mechanics are, almost, on every corner. Finding a good one is the main problem.

Sirkitrider,
Here is where I get my motorcycle tires from,
http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/ (http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/)

Its tough when you see companies like this go out of business. Especially when internet sales is where folks seem to go. Since most motorcycle shops/dealers don't have what your looking for anyway. I've done business with both. My only problem with motorcycle superstore was its internet page was hard to navigate through to get to what your looking for. AMT is so much easier to navigate through for tires than MS ever dreamed of.

Thanks Silverbullet.  I'll check them out next time I need tires.

I found this on another site. It explains the why and therefore of this chapter 11 filing. I would expect that things will be business as usual for the businesses involved.

I guess that explains why my Kurakyn floorboards have been on backorder for 2 1/2 months.
