Title: It just looked so lonely...
Post by: scootermann on October 06, 2016, 08:54:07 PM
Let's show some Vespa love... I noticed how lonely the Vespa thread section was once I started looking (and got a Vespa). I mean, technically, they are a Maxi-Scoot... 300cc.

Very nice but can it float?

Nice looking, well-equipped bike you got. There's something about a Vespa that just screams "Fun". A 300 just means a very capable and usable fun. Kinda wish I had the budget and space for one, but I find the Burgmans just a little more useful.

Thanks for reminding us of our origins.

Went from a Reflex to a Majesty to the Vespa. The ONLY thing I have to say that I miss is the storage on the Majesty. The Vespa is surprisingly quick and far more nimble that either of my other scooters.

I kept the tunnel bag and probably won't add a top box (See what you've done, Maggie?).

You of all people should know better :)  Style over function :-)  A Vespa is just darn sexy!

I often wonder how a Vespa is a "long ride" with the smaller wheels.

Not to mention this awesome video about a Vespa

Loved my little Vespa.  Steve the scooter could run with the best of them.  It was always a fun ride.  After several week long scooter trips, I had to get something with bigger tires.  Those little 10 inch wheels were a killer.  My chiropractor loved me though.  I think I put a couple of his kids through school.

Here is an interesting read:

Another weird thing about the Vespa is that they don't LOOK fast, and everybody has to pass you—even if you are doing 65-70. I will pull out 12 car lengths in front of some cage and I hear them floor it until they get past me. I usually just slow down realizing that; A) It ain't worth a drag race, and B) The Vespa will always look cooler going slow than they do going fast.

I have always liked Vespa's but parts and service availability here has always been poor. Really wanted the 250ie, great looks and acceleration.

The 250 and 300 are very similar, with the 300 having a little more torque for riding 2-up. I think you would have to go to Lexington for service, unless you did it yourself. Parts are plentiful online. Most of the MC shops don't take scooters seriously anyway. Easier to do your own repairs.

No dealers left in KY, closest in Shelbyville, IN or Cincinnati, OH. I had a Sears Vespa for a short while in the 70's, learned some Italian trying to get parts.

Saw 2 Vespa at Waterfront Park Sunday past. Oddly enough, there were 2 blue Spyders as well. I know of 2 Vespa I see parked off Meeting but I don't think they are the larger displacement variety.I'll be on the lookout for yours now that I know what it looks like.Oh, I like it.
